CLASSICAL HAND FORMS

The techniques, movements, principles and skills in Wu Mei Kung Fu are contained in a series of empty hand and weapon forms. These forms are a set of movements which are often fixed but sometimes variable that simulate an epic battle. Each form is organized to face each of the four great directions and their corners either in literal or implied actions. In this way the concept of the “Eight Trigrams” (Ba Gua) is represented. The eight trigrams represent the hidden order of the universe. Forms provide sample battle strategies and also express many philosophic ideas of classical Chinese culture. The study of the forms inform and educate us in traditional Chinese culture. Practice of the forms provide physical conditioning, develops skills, and organizes the various techniques and principles of Wu Mei Pai. The complete set of forms are like a record of Wu Mei Kung fu’s accomplishments and may be referred to as a reference manual.
